Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events
Grant County Solid Waste and Washington State Department of Ecology usually sponsor a household hazardous waste collection event once or twice a year. This event is NOT sponsored by the City of Moses Lake.

Acceptable Hazardous Waste

Oil based paint and stains
Adhesives
Rechargeable & lithium batteries
Thinners and Solvents
Antifreeze
Brake fluid
Old gasoline
Pesticides
Toxic cleaning products
Hobby chemicals
Contaminated used motor oil (contaminated with items such as gasoline, antifreeze,and brake fluid)
Aerosol cans
Products that contain Mercury (thermostats and mercury thermometers)
Swimming Pool chemicals
Insecticides
Weed killers
Road flares
Fire extinguishers

Unacceptable Hazardous Waste

Fluorescent light bulbs or tubes (all mercury-containing lights)
Medical Waste
Sharps
Medicines
Empty container of any type
Explosives (bullets or fireworks)
Radioactive materials like smoke detectors
Automotive batteries
Uncontaminated used motor oil
Propane tanks
Latex paint (once dried out this may be put into the garbage if paint lid is removed) Any other household waste (like tires, appliances, or garbage)
Electronic waste
Agricultural waste
Commercial waste
